Every year since 2006, local public and private high school juniors and seniors are invited to enter their original jewelry creations in the ‘Jewelers of Birmingham Annual High School Scholarship Competition’. The competition is a great opportunity for young jewelry artists to make contact with working professionals within the industry, to gain recognition for their skill and hard work, and to win prize money! As well as the $500, $250, & $100 cash prizes, local jewelry suppliers and Birmingham vendors generously donate gift vouchers and other items as prizes for the event, so it really is a community effort.

Congratulations go out to this year's juried competition winners: 1st place winner Zachary Gudziak for his piece 'Mokume-Gane Stone Setting', 2nd place winner Ian Kovach for his piece 'Tree Cufflinks', and 3rd place winner Zachary Fullenwider for his piece 'Citadel'! Honorable mentions also go to Hoang Nguyen for 'Peacock Bracelet', Joseph Devroy for 'Suspended', Johnathan Yang for 'Diffusion' and Aidan Darby for 'Cow Skull Bolo Tie'.

One more prestigious prize is up for grabs! The People's Choice Award! All 35 of the student entries will be displayed in 6 member jewelry stores and they need your votes now! Click here for more information!
